WATERLOO INSTITUE OF SOCCER PLAYERS ELECT NEW EXECUTIVES FOR THE TWO YEAR TERM 2010 to 2012
At the Annual General Meeting of Waterloo Institute of Soccer Players held on Saturday 21st May 2010 at Waterloo Secondary School the following members were elected to the Executive Board:
Mr. Raymond Jurawan – President
Joyclyn Palmer - 1st Vice President
Mr. Stephen Bartholomew- Past President
Ms. Patricia Granderson - Secretary
Mr. Ramnarace Samuel- Treasurer
Mr. Bryan Layne, President of the Central Football Association officiated over the election of Officers and all Offices were elected unopposed.
The new executive then appointed the following Vice Presidents to the Board:
Ms. Nimrala Boodoo- Fundraising & Sponsorship
Mr. Leslie Hoyte- Education & Training
Mr. Mozack Rahamut- Equipment & Uniforms
Mr. Wayne Wills- Discipline
Ms Michelle Williams- Assistant Secretary
Ms. Tracey Benjamin-Antoine- Assist. Treasurer
Mr. Brian Layne then recognized the outgoing President, Mr. Bartholomew for his commitment over the years to the development of youth football in central and for establishing WISP as a successful organization.
He then welcomes the new President, Mr. Jurawan as Principal of Waterloo Secondary School and now President of this community based organization to take over the meeting.
Mr. Jurawan thanked the members for the confidence expressed in him and assured them that soon he will be retiring as Principal of the School and will be devoting his time as WISP President to take the Club to the next stage of progress.
CONGRATULATIONS TO WATERLOO INSTITUTE OF SOCCER PLAYERS WINNERS OF THE SPIRIT OF SPORTS AWARD FOR THE BEST COMMUNITY SPORTS PROGRAMME FOR THE YEAR
At the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs inaugural The Spirit of Sport Awards 2011 held on Wednesday 28th December 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain, Waterloo Institute of Soccer Players were awarded for their Community Sports Programme of the Year.
Present at the function to receive the Award for Waterloo Institute of Soccer was Amir Fadel Captain of U-13 Boys the Waterloo Elite Football Program.
Mr. Raymond Jurawan, President of Waterloo Institute of Soccer Players (WISP) and Past Principal of Waterloo Secondary School commended the initiative of the Executive and Coaching Staff for introducing the Elite Player Development Program in September 2009.
He credited the idea of the Strategic Plan to WISP Executive members Stephen Bartholomew, Past President and Jocelyn Palmer, 1st Vice President who attended a FIFA Seminar on “The Future of Football is Women’. They felt certain that this program will enhance the talented players of Waterloo and increase their ability and confidence for National Selection
The WISP Elite Player Development Program comprises two (2) age groups:
The Elite U-15 Girls team in training twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays under Coach Elizabeth Swift. Most of these players are also training with the National teams.
The Elite U-13 Boys team in training three times a week on Monday, Wednesdays and Saturdays under Coach Michael Davis in preparation for National selection in 2014
In 2011, Waterloo Institute continued to benefit from the success of this Program:
GIRLS
The girls won the 2011 Waterloo Invitational Women Tournament and reached the semifinals of the Republic Bank Cup. Waterloo Starlets were the 2010 winners of the girls U-17 Republic Bank Cup.
Arising out of this program, 6 of girls namely Victoria Swift, Zoe Swift, Keri Myers, Tonietta Phillip, Shinece David and Shalette Alexander are currently with the National Women teams
BOYS
The U-13 boys placed 2nd in the TTFF National Youth League. A great achievement for the community of Waterloo and environs and for Central Trinidad as a whole.
Apart from the Elite Program, a Saturday Camp is coordinated by WISP Treasurer, Ramnarace Samuel is held every Saturday from 9 to 11am at the Jerry Junction ground, Waterloo and involved training of boys and girls in the U-5, U-8, U-10, U-13, U-15 and U-17 age groups.
