CONGRATULAIONS TO WATERLOO STARLETS- 3rd place in 2008 T & T Cup

Waterloo Trinidad put on good Soccer performance at Tournament in Waterloo Canada

Waterloo Trinidad U-15 girls and Under 14 boys played in the 36th Waterloo International soccer tournament on Sat June 14th and Sun June 15th 2008 at Bechtel and RIM Park, Waterloo, Canada.1

The U15 Waterloo Starlets girl’s loss to Waterloo Wild Cats 3:0; Innisfil Stampeders 4:0; Waterloo Wild Wings 4:0 but rebounded to win Byron F.C 1:0 in their final match with Zoe Swift scoring from a right side cross.

Waterloo Wild Cats (last year’s winners) won the Girls U-15 finals with a 5:3 wiping of Innisfil Stampeders.

Waterloo Trinidad U14 boys could field a team for two of their matches on Saturday at 9am and 1pm respectively and loss on default. The reason is that most of boys U14 of the players and coach staff arrived in Canada on Saturday at 1pm due to a problem with the travel agency. However one match was played with the U14 boys losing 6:0 to Waterloo Chargers.

Waterloo Hawks won the Boys U14 Finals beating the Waterloo Chargers 2:0.

Meeting with the Major of the City of Waterloo

An official meeting with Major Brenda Hollaran was held at RIM Park Conference Center. The Trinidad group was introduced by Mr. Steve Breen, Past President of Waterloo Minor Soccer Club and chairperson of the Tournament Committee. The Major then welcome all the players, Parents and Officials and handed Memorial Pins of the City Of Waterloo.1

She then informed of the opportunities for international students applying for Scholarships to study in Waterloo, Canada and cited Wilfred Laurier and the University of Waterloo as amongst the best Universities in Canada.

She hen indicated that the RM Park is an initiative of Research in Motion (RIM) the manufacturers of the Blackberry Phone and stressed that the City of Waterloo was voted the Most Intelligent City of the World in 2007.

WISP President, Stephen Bartholomew presented the Mayor with a Plague from the Chairman of the Couva, Tabaquite, Talparo Regional Corporation and a letter proposing the twining of the waterloos.
